Man abandoned by his mother in public bathroom reunites with her 39 years later

A man who was abandoned by his mother in a bathroom has finally reunited with her.
David Volk's birth mother left him in a McDonald’s bathroom in New Jersey.

In 2014 he announced a search to find his biological mother on Facebook by posting a photo of himself holding a sign that read: "Please help me! I'm looking for my birth mother."

His latest Facebook posting shows a picture of him holding a sign that reads:
"I would like to announce I found my birth family."
It came as a surprise to some of his Facebook friends, especially considering the circumstances in which he became separated from his birth mother.
Volk was abandoned as a newborn in the bathroom of a Newark McDonald's on Dec. 20, 1977. A manager at the fast-food restaurant rescued him and alerted authorities.
Volk was adopted about a year later and would eventually settle with his adoptive family in the Slate Belt; he attended Pen Argyl Area High School.

Volk told the Lehigh Valley newspaper.

He met the siblings he never knew last year, a brother and sister, and now hopes to finally meet his mother after exchanging emails with her. He found them after another DNA test identified a second cousin in 2016.

He did not immediately identify his new relatives or respond to a request for comment Monday.
