Skeleton of Nigerian woman found one year after she went missing in the US

The remains of a woman found in a wooded area of Dedham have been identified, police say.

Bones and a few personal effects were found in the woods off High Street on city property last week. Police released photos of a sweatshirt worn by the woman and some jewelry in hopes of identifying her last Friday.

According to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office, the remains were those of Nigerian,Susan Anyanwu-Corbin, who was 22 years old when she went missing.

Anyanwu-Corbin was reported missing to the Boston Police, Norfolk DA Michael Morrissey said.

According to Fox news,Investigators said a person recognized the jewelry in media coverage and helped identify the woman. The medical examiner in Boston confirmed Anyanwu-Corbin's identity based on dental records.

She was a resident of Boston and likely lived in Hyde Park, according to investigators.

Anyanwu-Corbin disappeared in early or mid-February of 2016, Morrissey said. Investigators are now looking into how she disappeared and are asking people who may have seen her during that time to help them piece together what happened to her.

Morrissey said he couldn't say whether there was or was not foul play involved. He noted there was sufficient deterioration, but wouldn't comment further on the condition of the bones found
