25-year-old Pokyes Danladi was stabbed to death by one Victor Oluwole described as “fake soldier.”
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday night at a popular drinking joint in West of Mines, Jos which residents regard as red light district.
Danladi was said to have bled to death when doctors at Birhman Hospital battled in vain to treat him.
The death has reportedly shocked Pokyes’ mother, Mrs. Martha Danladi, a former councillor in Jos North Local Government Area. She is currently on admission at the Nigeria Police Clinic in Jos.
Pokye’s dad, Dakuru Danladi, confirmed his wife’s hospitalisation.
Said to be the ‘baby of the house,’ Pokyes was said to be seeking admission to the university.
Although the suspect has been arrested by the security agencies, PUNCH learnt that the community has been gripped with fear because of speculations that his friends might regroup and cause more havoc.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Tyopev Terna, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the murder; saying the suspect had confessed to the crime, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Danladi demanded an investigation of the murder, calling on the government to ensure that justice was done in this matter.

He said, “One person has been arrested. We don’t need to arrest more people. The suspect was arrested on the spot with the knife and he has confessed to the crime.
“We don’t need any other arrest; it is only when we don’t know the person who committed the act that we can start to look for suspects.
“The suspect said it was just an argument and that he was provoked and had to use the knife on the victim.
“The suspect said it was out of provocation. We wanted to write to Rukuba Barracks to confirm his claim that he was a soldier.
“But on interrogation, the suspect later on confessed that he was not a soldier but just used that as an escape route, not knowing that the Police would not leave him.”
Danladi demanded an investigation of the murder, calling on the government to ensure that justice was done in this matter.
